We are pleased to announce that St. Nicholas Church will be hosting the 57th Annual Parish Life Conference in Montreal (July 1st – July 4th 2010). The 3 Co-Chairs for the Conference are: Lorne Zakaib, Larry Zakaib, and Michael Lawand.

+ Dormition Fast +

The Dormition Fast is from August 1st – August 15th, ending at the Divine Liturgy celebrated on August 15th in the morning which is the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. During the Fast, all meat and dairy products are abstained from and we observe a Paraklisis Service to the Virgin Mary almost every evening, see the following Schedule of Services for more information:

Monday, August 2 2010 – Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 3 2010 – Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 4 2010 – Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 5 2010 – Great Vespers at 7:00 p.m. (Feast of Holy Transfiguration)

Friday, August 6 2010 – Orthros (10:00 a.m.) & Divine Liturgy (11:00 a.m.) (Fish Allowed)

Saturday, August 7 2010 – Great Vespers at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, August 8 2010 – Regular Sunday Schedule

Monday, August 9 2010 - Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 10 2010 – Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 11 2010 – Paraklisis Service at 7:00 p.m.

Metropolitan EPHREM (Kyriakos)
Guest Speaker

We will be blessed with the presence of Sayidna EPHREM (Metropolitan of Tripoli, Lebanon) who will be visiting Montreal from Monday July 26 – Monday August 2. A complete schedule of his visit will be published once made available.

Saturday, July 31 at 6:00 p.m. Sayidna EPHREM will be at St. Nicholas Church for Great Vespers and will give a spiritual talk in English upstairs in the Church. We will then have a reception for Sayidna and guests in the Church Hall.

All are invited!

Annual Church Raffle

The Annual Church Raffle will be on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm August 24 2010 in the Church Hall. Please see Paul Massad or a member of the Parish Council to arrange the purchase of tickets, or leave a message with the Church Office.

 

Soul Saturday

Soul Saturday is May 22nd 2010 beginning with Orthros at 10:00 a.m. followed by Divine Liturgy & Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Church. Any lists of names to be commemorated that morning must be delivered to the Altar before the Divine Liturgy starts at 11:00 a.m. to guarantee their inclusion to the master list.  At approximately 1:00 p.m. Fr. Mark will be at Mount-Royal Cemetery at the grave-site of Fr. Michael Zarbatany for the General Memorial Service, a plan will be made there with those in attendance to bless individual graves that afternoon from 1pm-4pm.  To schedule a private Memorial Service/Grave Blessing on another day or at another cemetery, please contact Fr. Mark.

Antiochian Women Closing Dinner

The Antiochian Women will be having their Closing Dinner on May 26 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Le Crystal (Ristorante Vino Rosso) – 5285 Henri Bourassa West, St-Laurent. For more information contact Sylvia Mefrige.

The Antiochian Women will be hosting a Deli Night on February 2nd in the Church Hall at 6:30 p.m. For information, please call the Chairperson/Ticket Convener Laurie Maalouf.


Feast of the Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ

Tuesday January 5th at 10:00 AM - The Paramon (Royal Hours) & beginning at 7:00 PM - Vesperal Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great followed by the blessing of the Water.

NOTE: Individual bottles will not be supplied, dixie cups will be offered for those attending the Service to drink Holy Water in the Church. If you want to take Holy Water home, please bring your own bottle with your name labelled on it to avoid any confusion.


Feast of the Circumcision of our Lord Jesus Christ & Feast of St. Basil the Great + January 1

Thursday December 31st 2009: Vespers beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed immediately by Orthros at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at approximately 8:15 p.m. Start your New Year’s Eve with Prayer & Fasting before Singing & Feasting!
